You are invited to attend a free workshop on grafting fruit trees on Saturday March 17th, 2018 at the Shaw Island Community Center from 9 AM until 2 PM. The workshop will include some classroom instruction on the theory, principles and techniques of dormant hardwood grafting, but will mostly be hands on instruction and practice. All materials and tools will be provided.
The goal of this information exchange is to share my joy of grafting apple trees and provide an opportunity for friends to learn something new. Some of the trees we graft that day will become a part of the new Sisters of Mercy Orchard on Shaw Island.
Most of the varieties available are extremely rare heritage apples, but there will be some modern favorites as well. You can take home a few trees to plant or give away that you have grafted yourself.
Bring a sack lunch and/or something to share as we will take a short break for lunch. Wear work clothes that can get a little dirty.
The class will be limited to 8 people so please let me know via email as soon as possible whether you would like to attend.
Happy Saint Patrick Day!
