We're passionate about building a thriving community on Shaw, but we're facing a challenge that affects everyone on the island. The cost of housing on Shaw has made it difficult to attract and retain essential workers we rely on every day. These workers fill vital roles at our Post Office, Ferry Terminal, General Store, Fire Station, within our EMT services, among other key areas. The mismatch between prevailing wages and housing costs is creating a divide in our community, and affecting our island lifestyle and the well-being of our most vulnerable residents.
