The exciting Miho & Diego Duo are coming to Shaw Island on Friday, March 31st, as Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival Musicians-in-Residence. They will be presenting a free family concert, “A Musical Trip Around the World,” after spending the day working and playing with students at the Shaw School.
The Miho & Diego Duo has been boldly blending Latin and Japanese musical traditions since 2006, encouraging cultural understanding through music. Both Miho Takekawa and Diego Coy are accomplished musicians in their own right, and their primary instruments are the marimba and the traditional Andean flute. Miho and Diego came together after years of admiring each other’s work and discovering that their sounds could be combined to make something genuinely new and unique.
Come and enjoy this free Family Concert at the Shaw Island Community Building on Friday, March 31st, at 6:30pm. We hope to see you there!
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Shaw section of their visit is kindly supported by Shaw Inc, The Shaw School Foundation, Shaw Island School, and Carolyn Haugen.
