The scholarship fund is managed by Shaw Respect Inc., a local non-profit. In 15 years, about 20 islanders have received a total of more than $35,000 in scholarships for educational pursuits, thanks to generous individuals’ donations and some Labor Day tag sales (think garage sale inside the community building).
This year several islanders have applied. They appreciate your support.
Scholarship recipients include Chloe Mason, Jacob Simmering, Rebecca Echeverria, Victoria Echeverria, Tessa Echeverria, Carl Schmidt, Bonnie Schmidt, Amy Schmidt, Graham Ellis, Rebecca Laursen, Heidi Laursen, Karl Smith, Debi Miller, Otto Schmidt, Katie Schmidt, Jennifer Smith, Ramona Smith, Hannah Holiday and Cassandra Deane.
