SERT is a community based, volunteer organized response to severe weather emergencies. It does not replace Shaw Fire and EMS, or, in the most extreme situations, possible Red Cross assistance. It is basically a neighborhood system making sure everyone is safe. The goal is to insure that those who are in need of assistance can get it, and those who want to offer assistance have a coordinated way of doing so.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out one of our Questionnaires: Information gathered will include your physical address, number of people present at different times of year, special needs and medical alerts. There is also a section to indicate RESOURCES you’d be willing to offer (i.e., food, water, shelter, chain saws, childcare, and road clearing).
SERT is focused on keeping PEOPLE safe, NOT on monitoring, protecting or saving property and houses.
