Notice 1

• 911 cell pone calls on Shaw Island will now be directed to the proper dispatch center.  It is no longer necessary to dial 378-4141.
• You will need to tell the dispatcher where you are as the automatic location service is not in place at this time.

Notice 2

As of April 30, 2003, San Juan County dispatch will no longer announce your name over the radio system, even if you ask them to do so.  They must do this in order to comply with the The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

In order to facilitate emergency response, and for your safety, we ask that you put a sign with your house numbers in an easily visible spot where your driveway intersects the road.  It would be good if the sign were made of a reflective material as emergencies can occur at night too.
